Australian Bat Hospital Takes in Abandoned Baby Bats

If you’ve ever needed proof that everyone and everything is cute as a baby, here it is. The Tolga Bat Hospital in Atherton, Australia rescues abandoned baby bats that are so adorable you’ll almost forget that they’ll grow up to be bloodsucking vampires.

The orphaned fruit bats typically have had their mother die or become unable to feed them due to disease. Others have themselves been afflicted with tick paralysis and cannot survive in the wild.

Volunteers at the hospital nurse the young bats back to health, and then when the time comes they are released back into the wild. From time to time, Tolga also will serve as a rescue for bats who have grown too old for the zoos.
