Singapore-based artist Ivan Hoo creates incredible hyperrealistic drawings on wood using just pencils and pastels. With his works usually depicting common everyday items such as a cracked egg or broken piece of china, one can easily be fooled into believing that these are not simple drawings but actual objects.
Hoo originally began experimenting with wood years ago by drawing portraits. It was during these times that he began to appreciate the amount of realism the medium brought to his art, and his affinity for working with it has only grown since.
A selection of Hoo’s work appears below, if you’d like to see more of his work with hyperrealism, his Instagram is a great follow. There, he frequently posts new pieces as well as short video clips of him at work.
