Wood Cabin Hides Among the Rocks in the Swiss Alps

The ‘Antoine’ by architects Bureau A pays homage to the Swiss tradition of bunkers and other military structures hidden amongst their Alps. Named after a character from an important local novel who survived 7 weeks in the harsh climate using the rocks as shelter, the cabin blends in seamlessly with the treacherous, rocky landscape.

Though appearing rough and rocky on the exterior, the cabin is actually composed of wood, and considering its location the interior makes the most of its environment. Functionality is of course the foremost thought in each element. Small windows and a rear-facing door maintain the cabin’s camouflage. Seating, a table area, and bed fold down, with storage areas to be found behind each. Heat is provided through a simple, small, efficient fire place.

The exterior is textured to blend in with the rocky landscape in quite the convincing manner, being hard to discern from the actual boulders in the area even from close-up. View more on the hidden wooden cabin in the video below.
