By combining vintage photographs into surreal collages, artist Sammy Slabbinck takes us into a complete new, bizarre world. Sammy takes a number of source photographs, cuts them up, and then rearranges them with particular interest being paid to juxtaposition to create stunning visual scenes. His alignment of different pieces with vastly different proportions and contexts than the original photograph they came from combines to challenge the viewer’s modern ideals with traditional states of mind. Finally, he uses muted tones to further emphasize the vintage nature of the photographs his pieces are sourced from. For more of Sammy Slabbinck’s art, follow him on Facebook, Twitter, or tumblr.
