Japanese Home Has Its Own Secret Garden

Japanese architect Hisanori Ban designed this home in Komaki City to allow the family to escape from the hassles of urban living with their own secret garden.

Inspired by a family camping trip in which they came across a beautiful hidden ravine, Ban recreated the feature using a heavily sloped plot walled in on three sides. From within the garden, the outside cityscape is easily shut away, with the garden appearing to flow off into the sky.

Inside, the home has a crisp, modern feel with white finishing with black accents throughout. View more from Ban on his website.
