Seon Ghi Bahk’s Suspended Charcoal Columns Question Our Relationship With Nature

Artist Seon Ghi Bahk is always seeking to examine as human beings our relationship with nature. His latest art installation using charcoal columns suspended by nylon threads, Fiction of the Fabricated Image, is a continuation of that theme. Seon feels that nature is an immeasurable force that we do not truly comprehend or appreciate, merely seeing it as a backdrop to our lives. By using charcoal, a natural substance and in his words a “ghost of trees,” he aims to replicate the architectural forms, or columns, which provide us shelter in the present day. It is his hope that the suspended charcoal columns will cause its viewers to reexamine how they see their relationship with the natural world. Fiction of the Fabricated Image is currently showing at the Zadok Gallery in Miami, Florida through August 25th.
