Kids in Need Get 3D-Printed Superhero Prosthetic Arms

E-Nabling the Future is an organization of engineers and other volunteers which provides low cost prosthetic limbs for needy children around the world. As if that wasn’t cool enough, things there took a turn for the extraordinary just last month. One of the organization’s volunteers, Aaron Brown, modified E-Nable’s free prosthetic hand plans to include something that would appeal more to children: the claws from X-Men’s Wolverine. To no one’s surprise, the 3D-printed superhero prosthetic arms were a MASSIVE hit among the children.

“People’s faces just lit up!” Brown told E-Nable on their website. “The kids went crazy over it. And don’t worry … the claws aren’t sharp! They are rounded plastic and just stick on and off with velcro.”

Since the first lucky kids got their Wolverine prosthetic arms, the team has also developed and produced 3D-printed arms for young fans of Iron Man and Batman. As the volunteer organization continues to grow and develop plans for more superheroes, there’s sure to be many more children in need who will soon be wearing giant smiles thanks to E-Nable and their superhero arms. Enjoy pictures of some of the excited kids below, as well as a video about a 3-year old boy in Maui who received an Iron Man arm!
