Colorado-based reddit user Viper20220k‘s 6-year-old stepson is wheelchair-bound due to cerebral palsy, but neither of them sees any reason that should keep him from participating in all the Halloween fun.
Each year, he builds his son incredible creations that would put even the best children’s costumes to shame. This year’s was no exception, and perhaps the best yet — with the son going as a beyond cool tank that even emits smoke from its barrel!
Building the elaborate costumes to both look great and safely accommodate the wheelchair is no easy task, with each taking between 15 to 30 hours to complete. Past costumes have included a pirate ship and a fire engine with working light bar.
Some of us, however, prove time and time again we can’t do this responsibly and wind up in jail.
So, take a look at the following 23 Halloween mug shots, and perhaps they will make you pause and think twice before the phrase “let me just do these shots, then I’ll call my ex back” leaves your mouth.
There’s still two months to go but I’d say the 2014 Father of the Year award has been wrapped up. Ryan Bowen built this incredible father/son MechWarrior costume using just PVC piping, cardboard, and zip ties.
The ‘MechDaddy’ costume is inspired by a computer game Ryan played during high school, in which you fight other people in mechanized war suits. Naturally, when Ryan learned he and his wife were having a baby building this was the thing that first came to mind.
Cardboard, taken from the multitude of leftovers they had from baby stuff packaging, wraps a PVC shell which rests on Ryan’s shoulders. Zip ties and velcro tape hold everything together, with the Mech legs being held up by a belt. The gun hands are actually Ryan’s natural hands, oddly enough, so I guess that worked out for him.
