Yumi Okita’s Textile Moth and Butterfly Sculptures

North Carolina based artist Yumi Okita creates some absolutely beautiful textile moth and butterfly sculptures. The fabric pieces are actually quite large, with some being up to a foot in size from wing to wing. The process for sculpting each of the creatures is quite painstaking, with Yumi taking great care to craft the wings and bodies with just the right detail and color. Meant to resemble the real things as much as possible, each moth and butterfly has intricate patterns on their wings that have colors which fade in and out perfectly. If you’d like to have one of these beautiful winged sculptures for yourself, visit Yumi’s Etsy shop.
